Steen vs Davey Richards - PWG
How was that?
Hilarious. Snot rockets from Steen and a drum solo from Richards. PWG's Kurt Rusellmania. Sure its on youtube.
Or you know, you could support indy promotions - and go to highspots.com and order it.

Like I did. Smiley Also bought the Bad News Brown shoot dvd's from highspots.

The last match I watched was a Battle Royal in Port Perry on July 1st. It was the main event of the GCW (Great Canadian Wrestling) "Canada Day Chaos" show that was part of the festivities in town that day.

It was announced prior to the match that the winner would be the 1st "Canada Cup Battle Royal Champion".

Participants included everyone who'd appeared on the show with the exception of the 2 women wrestlers (PJ Tyler & Gabrielle Vanderpool), Anthony Darko (who'd received a nasty hardway cut during his match) and Crazzy Steve (for reasons unknown.)

It was a short match - just over 6 minutes - and, like in many card-ending battle royals, the participants seemed to target their earlier opponents. At about the 4 minute mark it was down to 2 guys - Sebastian Suave and Kenneth Crises. Suave succeeded in tossing Crises over the top and then off the apron to apparently win the match but things weren't over yet...

As they were struggling at the ropes in the final moments, referee "Old School" Eddington James entered the ring. When Suave began celebrating his elimination of Crises, Old School grabbed him and tossed him over the ropes and threw his arms in the air exclaiming "I win! I win!" James was announced as the official winner of the bout and the first ever GCW Canada Cup Battle Royal Champion.

Old School said after the match: "I'm gonna enter every battle royal in Ontario! I am the law in Ontario and it's time these wrestlers realized it!"

I'm not a huge fan of Battle Royals. I always preferred being in them than watching them but this was enjoyable and I liked the added twist of the ref winning it. Fans in attendance ate it up, as they had the entire show. Probably about 450 or so there for this bout - down a bit from the peak of roughly 600 at the start of the Sebastian Suave vs Anthony Darko match (#five of eight) that had the accidental bloodshed. The entire show was a blast - lots of fun stuff without a lot of storyline - just face vs heel with the faces all going over (with the exception of the women's match.) All you really need in an environment like a fair or festival.

Anyway, that was the last match I watched.

For those interested, the other wrestlers appearing on the show were: Tomer Shalom w/ Seleziya, "The Entertainer" Buck Gunderson, Cezar, Will Hunter, SWOOSH (Super Wonderful Omnipotent Oval-Shaped Hero), KC Andrews, "Surf's Up" Johnny Wave, Ali Atish, Amazing Darkstone and Brent B. Besides Old School, Sean Cassidy (announced as Fargo Toebath) officiated and perrenial GTA area ring announcer Gentleman Geoff handled the hosting duties.
